About the role

Coventry Building Society have a great new opportunity for a Technical Specialist – IT Service (Asset & Configuration) to join the CIDO team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective delivery of IT Asset and Configuration Management across IT, using an ITIL framework. A specialist in defining, implementing, maintaining and continuously improving the IT Asset (ITAM) and Configuration Management services, ensuring efficient creation, maintenance and management of the Asset and Configuration Management Data Base (CMDB) and CMS tools.

Definition, Creation and Implementation of effective processes and controls for Asset and Configuration Management. Enforce and enhance policies, processes and procedures for Asset and Configuration Management. Ensure the CMDB is definitive, up-to-date, accurate and the correct source for all IT Infrastructure hardware and applications. Auditing and verifying the integrity of the CMDB, to identify issues with, and improve processes associated to the update of system records.

Monitor and report on the Asset and Configuration Management processes effectiveness and efficiency and recommends improvements as part of a continual service improvement programme. Development and maintenance of the Configuration Management plan. Identification, classification and specification of all configuration items (CIs) and their relationships to other CI’s. Identification of ownership and accountability for management for all CI’s within the AMDB and CMDB. Lifecycle management and status accounting for all assets and Configuration Items.

This is a hybrid role, based in Coventry 2 days a week, for collaboration with peers and other CIDO events. There is a requirement for the successful candidate to be on site in the Coventry office more frequently in the initial 3 months for training.

About you

To be successful in this role, it’s essential that you’re able to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in an ITIL and SAFe environment. Extensive knowledge of IT Asset and Configuration management principles, processes, standards, new and evolving best practices.
  • Significant experience in an IT Service environment, ideally with experience in a financial organisation. Proven experience of service improvement with IT Asset and Configuration Management Processes.
  • Operational experience of the ServiceNow toolset, CMDB schema ideally using the CSDM model with best practice. Experience in the development of automated data interfaces to update the CMDB, and the normalisation of data.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow discovery and Service mapping with the application of best practices. Confidence in communicating with and presenting to teams at all levels within the organisation.
  • Knowledge and experience of Hardware and Software Asset Management processes, licenses and agreements.

Desirable skills for this role are:

  • Ideally you will have experience having worked in a financial services organisation.
