About the role

Our Group’s operational scope is evolving. In response, we are strengthening our financial crime risk management capabilities to ensure robust oversight, effective controls, and enterprise-wide compliance.

We are seeking a Senior Manager – Financial Crime Risk Assessment (FCA) to support the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) by providing strategic leadership, oversight, and subject matter expertise in financial crime risk management. This role is critical in identifying, assessing, and evidencing the Group’s exposure to financial crime risks—including money laundering, sanctions, fraud, bribery, and tax evasion—across our business model and customer base.

The role will be accountable for:

  • Leading and building the Group FC Risk Assessment function
  • Design, execution and maintenance of the Group wide Financial Crime Risk Assessment
  • Design, execution and maintenance of the Group Customer and 3rd party risk assessment.
  • Data led testing, modelling and refresh of these methodologies
  • Use data from risk assessments to spot areas where financial crime risks might exist.
  • Recommend ways to fix or reduce FC risks and improve controls

About you

To be successful in this role it’s essential you have a proven track record of operating at a senior management level with the ability to provide appropriate challenge and influence executives along with the following essential experience:

  • Experience building and leading teams focusing on risk assessment activity and financial crime data collation and analytics
  • Strong track record of building tools and enablers to support effective and high-quality risk assessment approaches
  • Significant experience of interpreting and applying Financial Crime legislation and regulation in a retail banking environment
  • Significant experience of managing FC risk in a retail banking environment across money laundering, sanctions and fraud.
  • A strong track record of designing and implementing data led risk identification and mitigation approaches
  • A strong leader – building a vision and taking the team with you on the journey to deliver it
  • Ability to build strong and enduring working relationships to help ensure key messages are clearly defined and understood.

Desirable experience will be:

  • Knowledge of balance sheet forecasting software e.g. QRM would also be an advantage.
