About the role

Coventry Building Society have an exciting new role for a Senior Portfolio Management Officer, to join CIDO.

The role holder will facilitate and support multiple delivery disciplines within the portfolio, including risks, dependencies, finances, and resources, ensuring adherence to best practices. Working in close collaboration with distributed and central PMO colleagues and the CIDO delivery community (all levels) to support effective change delivery and implement metrics needed to assess progress. This includes ensuring adherence to minimum Data Standards, following the centralised Delivery Framework, and optimising the use of Jira.

The Senior Portfolio Management Officer helps ensure the focus is on the ‘right work’, overseeing continuous improvement and early feedback on current initiatives at a macro level, helping the Portfolio Leadership Team to make the necessary adjustments to meet its targets. The role supports coordination across the CIDO portfolios, maintaining alignment between strategy and execution, and supporting continued operational excellence.

This role has a requirement to work in the office for 1 - 2 days per week as a minimum. This can be shared between Manchester and Coventry.

You’ll be passionate about ensuring CIDO and the wider CBS business delivers great outcomes through supporting business goals and objectives, seeking to understand how decisions and dependencies impact delivery.

To be successful in this role, it’s essential that you’re able to demonstrate:

  • Lead coordination among the Central Programme Office, project teams and key executive stakeholder, expertly organising forums, meetings, setting agendas, and meticulously documenting insights, key decisions and minutes. Ensure all programme documentations are current, accessible, and compliant with organisational standards.
  • Implement Programme cadence by scheduling Executive / Leadership meetings, proactively resolving any conflicts. Actively engage in forums and meetings, capturing key insights, decisions, and action items. Ensure clear ownership and follow-up for all agreed-upon actions
  • Cultivate and manage distribution lists and channels for various forums and audience groups, ensuring targeted and effective communication.
  • Champion the Strategic Programme Management tool, developing deep understanding in its functionalities, with supporting enterprise tools, authentication, authorisation, and security features.
  • Ensure robust data governance and integrity within the tool by overseeing user onboarding, access controls, data quality, and recency.
  • Manage tool configuration and enhancements, including data import/export processes. Generate accurate reports and analytics to inform project performance and resource allocation decisions.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy that advances M&A Integration goals and aligns with overarching organisation objectives.
  • In collaboration with the Communications team, create clear, compelling materials, including presentations, newsletters, FAQs, and timely updates that convey Integration progress and key messages.

Desirable skills for this role are:

  • You’ll have previous experience of mergers and acquisitions, having worked on large change programmes of work.
  • You will be excellent at written, verbal communication, interpersonal skills and possess analytical skills. You will have keen attention to details, curiosity and desire to drive quality outputs while upholding standards. Ability to own and lead programme initiatives, track and report on a regular basis.
  • Programme management skills including keen knowledge of managing risks, dependencies, issues and assumptions. Experience with planning and coordinating engaging communication events, such as interactive workshops, to facilitate knowledge sharing, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.
