About the role

Coventry Building Society have a great opportunity for a Portfolio Management Officer (PMO) to join our Chief Information & Digital Office (CIDO) area.

You will facilitate and drive the co-ordination of activities across multiple agile delivery teams, ensuring adherence to standards within the development lifecycle of our CIDO Portfolios.  You’ll work closely and collaborate with the Central PMO team and a Senior Portfolio Management Officer (SPMO), as part of a wider CIDO PMO team of around 20 people.

Your key stakeholders will include Release Train Engineers (RTEs) and their respective teams within your Portfolio’s Agile Release Trains (ARTs).  This role will support and provide inputs to the ARTs set by Product Managers, including tracking the objectives and goals on the work that has been delivered by the Trains.

You will collaborate with the Central PMO team, the Senior PMO and the Trains/Teams to implement the CIDO metrics needed to assess progress, including ensuring minimum data quality standards and adherence to the centralised Delivery Framework.  You will ensure that periodic assurance health checks are undertaken with Trains/Teams, for continuous adherence to defined governance standards.  You will also provide day-to-day support around risks, dependencies, trackers for finances and resources, prep for quarterly PI Planning events, and similar activities in line with the PMO Service Catalogue.

About you

You’ll have the ability to build relationships, influence, and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, with a working knowledge of effective governance and assurance, and an outline understanding of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and/or other agile delivery.

To be successful in this role, it’s essential that you’re able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to communicate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences to help management decision-making.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to handle the unexpected with positivity and flexibility.
  • The ability to use dashboards to analyse data, identify issues and trends, and present it in a way that tells a story.
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication, and analytical skills across all stakeholder groups.
  • A forward-looking, proactive mindset, and the ability to solve problems and own tasks through to completion.

Desirable skills for this role are:

  • PMO experience providing close, day-to-day support to change delivery teams.
  • A proven track record of working with a cross-functional processes or IT delivery teams in a large Enterprise environment.
