Senior Specialist - Internal Communications

This role sits within our Internal Communications team, and you’ll be pivotal in influencing and shaping decisions about how we communicate with and engage colleagues. Taking ownership of the Society-wide internal communications strategy for specific areas, you’ll provide a holistic internal communications service. You’ll coach, support and advise on best practice to enable and empower others to communicate effectively within the areas, and with the wider Society. You’ll also get stuck into some communications delivery where appropriate.

The knowledge and relationships you build will enable you to understand your audience needs and challenges, and give you plenty of opportunities to put your creative skills into practice.

Developing an excellent understanding of your areas’ priorities is a must – you’ll need to know how they fit in with the wider Society strategy, and how to engage people with the plans. So building a strong network and credibility with the relevant senior management teams is important for success in this role, as well as becoming a valued member of the wider Internal Communications function.

About You
You’ll have excellent communications skills, along with substantial experience of internal communications delivery in a complex organisation. Collaboration is a key skill for you, and you’ll love building strong partnerships and the credibility needed to influence and gain buy in from your senior stakeholders.

Working with discretion and confidentiality will be second nature, and you’ll enjoy thinking creatively to deliver the right solution for the right audience at the right time. You’ll be comfortable working with colleagues at all levels and will be able to translate complex information into simple, memorable internal communications. It’s not all about doing though – you’ll be confident at advising and coaching colleagues to help them make the right communication calls. And your resilience and ‘can do’ attitude will help you adapt on the fly…always essential in internal comms!


If you can back this up with financial services experience or a related qualification then great, but neither is essential.
