Business Development Team Manager

We now have the unique opportunity to join us as a field based Mortgage Business Development Team Manager. In this role you’re responsible for leading, supporting and coaching a team of remotely based Business Development Managers to ensure that our Intermediary strategy is effectively promoted.  This role looks after our team of field BDMs (up to 8) from Oxfordshire up into Scotland.

You’ll be responsible for the teams intermediary relationship strategy by reviewing, monitoring and responding to business volumes and market conditions, managing and developing key business relationships, maintaining knowledge on our customer’s culture, vision, goals, needs and future requirement across your chosen semi national area of responsibility. You’ll also develop your team towards their personal goals, support their wellbeing and engagement.

You and your team will engage at Managing Director level in strategic brokerage firms or with senior management at Corporate Accounts and you’ll identify business opportunities and develop joint plans to enhance the intermediary / customer experience.

You’ll also work closely with our Corporate Account Managers, your other colleagues in the field and telephone business development teams, along with the administration / support function based in Coventry. You’ll also be responsible for effectively monitoring and reviewing BDM performance taking actions as necessary. You’ll provide regular market and competitor updates and make recommendations to improve our product and service proposition.

About You

To be successful in the role you’ll already have recent, proven leadership experience in mortgages, ideally from the intermediary sector of which you’ll already have an in-depth knowledge. You'll have remote management skills, either already managing BDMs or managing managers from a mortgage service environment. You’ll have the ability to effectively negotiate and influence with a sound commercial knowledge and solid understanding of the UK mortgage market.

You’ll be an excellent communicator, able to build rapport and trust with business professionals, customers and stakeholders at all levels. The ability to easily grow relationships and influence will be key, as well as working in a consultative way to maintain long term relationships, whilst maintaining our reputation and integrity. You’ll be extremely organised, self-motivated and enjoy being part a greater team.

Being a field based role you’re responsible for your own diary and where you need to be. Considering the geographical spread of the role you’ll need a full driving licence and will be potentially required to accommodate weekly overnight stays depending on where youre based.
