Software Developer - Digital

About The Role
We're right in the middle of a massive technology transformation (did someone say cloud?), so there is an opportunity to get involved in a wide range of technologies ranging from Adobe AEM, .Net (WCF, MVC and some legacy WebForms.. we're working on that though), Middleware (IBM IIB, Datapower, API Connect), Java, SQL Server, Oracle, Netezza to Cognos.

And that's not an exhaustive list either, we've got other technologies available but most importantly, we value your opinion in what we should be doing and where we should be heading. In our Technology Radar sessions, Developers and Architects regularly meet up to discuss tools and technologies we'd like to use to make our lives better.

Whilst we need to support our standard business hours of 9-5 Monday to Friday, we also recognise the importance and value in having the correct work/life balance. We offer flexibility around the standard hours and the ability to work from home as these are key to getting the balance right.

And it's not all work, work, work - everyone is allocated 20% of their time for personal development and other non-project work. So that could be taking advantage of our in-house learning, Pluralsight courses, conferences or even joining in with the many different Communities of Practice that meet up on a regular basis. The choice is yours.

So what does day to day look like? As well as working with some of the technologies we mentioned above there are also various daily standups and then planning sessions or retrospectives to attend. You'll find yourself quite becoming quite attached to Git, JIRA and Confluence, the products we use for storing code, work tracking and for collaborative knowledge sharing. Throw in the Communities of Practice and our Hack Days, where a mixed group of people from across IT and the business will get together to solve a range of issues, and you have enough to keep everyone happy.
About You
Are you looking for a role in a growing, thriving department where you are not only empowered to learn, but also to challenge and see your efforts ultimately having a tangible impact on both the business and our members?

We’re looking for someone who has good communication and decision making skills, that are also organised and does what’s needed to produce quality software.

You will be comfortable with working both independently and as part of a team.
You'll also have either a Software Engineering related qualification and/or strong software development experience in a commercial environment for a digital platform.
Internally this role is known as Software Engineer - Development.
About The Company
IT at the Coventry is changing; we are currently undertaking an exciting transformation project that will shape the future of the organisation.
