Legal Counsel - Savings and Data Protection

About The Role

The role is to support the Legal Function in providing legal advice relevant to the Society’s deposit taking and payments activities advising on the legal impacts of regulatory change. This includes advising on legal issues involved in the launch of new deposit taking products, issues arising from the existing deposit taking product portfolio and the impact of new regulatory or legal requirements on the Society. The role includes providing advice to the Product & Marketing functions, project teams and dealing with queries arising from the Branch Network and Customer Relations.

The role will also provide data protection advice to stakeholders across the Society, including assisting with the implementation of data protection policies and procedures, analysing data protection impact assessments and dealing with data protection related queries.

About You

You’ll be admitted to practice law either as a Solicitor or a Barrister in England and Wales and must hold a current practising certificate and have relevant post qualification experience.

You’ll have significant knowledge of the retail financial services sector and the legal issues which arise in this area, including data protection.  You’ll also have the ability to build lasting relationships with your stakeholders at all levels around the business and be able to interpret the needs of internal clients across the Society and provide relevant, practical advice.
