Middle Office Manager - Financial Risk

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced financial practitioner to join the Middle Office in a new role.  Middle Office is a recently established and rapidly developing function within the Society, responsible for oversight of financial risk management and for providing areas of specialist support to Treasury and Finance. The role will involve developing and implementing improved financial oversight and technical solutions, addressing new regulation and implementing best practice as it develops. The role will involve focusing on particular areas of financial risk management, developing regulation or specialist technical subjects in order to provide enhanced policies, practices or solutions for the Society.

The primary purpose of this role is to develop the principles and oversight of our financial risk management, with a particular focus on prudential risk areas (principally market risk, liquidity risk and Treasury credit risk), forecasting and stress testing. In addition to this, the role will give the opportunity to develop a broader skill set within the responsibilities of Middle Office which include aspects of capital, Treasury oversight, specialized accounting and model risk. The successful applicant will become one of the key specialist managers in Middle Office who will be responsible for developing their particular area of expertise with the support of a small team of analysts.

About You
 The successful individual will have relevant experience within a finance or treasury function and will be expected to apply their knowledge and experience to develop financial risk management within the Society, have the ability to think innovatively and develop solutions to complex issues, be able to communicate effectively with senior managers and executives and achieve their objectives. Working within a newly established and rapidly developing function, you will have ample opportunities to develop both technical and managerial skills.

Ideally you will be a degree educated with a STEM, Finance or IT degree (or equivalent) and are likely to have or be well progressed in study towards a relevant professional qualification. Full role-related training and development will be provided and the Society will support relevant professional study.

In summary, the role is an opportunity for a financial practitioner with relevant experience to move into a broad and challenging environment in a specialist managerial role.
